Job Description
Job Summary:
The post holder will be responsible for providing specialist advice on managing adult Safeguarding matters within the organisation; working in partnership with Adult Social Care; the co-ordination of adult safeguarding procedures and reporting to the Trust Named Professional for Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist.
The post holder will work as part of the team in supporting the recording and management of Adult Safeguarding cases and the provision of staff training.
- To promote and develop local provision to meet the legislative requirements of the Care Act 2014, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) within the Mental Capacity Act, Domestic Abuse Act 2021 and all other related, relevant and subsequent safeguarding legislation/guidance.
- Provide support to teams undertaking and recording Adult Safeguarding activity particularly for those staff with role of Manager, Investigator and Champion.
- Develop and maintain effective partnership working with our NHS and collaborative partnerships (ICB, Acute Provider Group, Local Authority and other statutory/non-statutory partners)
- Contributes towards report writing.
- Support and develop service user network to share ways to ensure their own protection.
- Oversee publications on the Trust Intranet.
- Diary and office management.

Skills/Experience Required:
Essential
- Registered Professional Nurse / Social Worker / Allied Health Professional or Paramedic with experience of working within safeguarding.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Training in relation to safeguarding

- Post Graduate Qualifications
- Safeguarding Adults formal qualification of recognised related training

- Demonstrate Experience of having supported the safeguarding process
- Knowledge of DOLS/Mental Capacity Act (2005)
- Knowledge of Safeguarding Legislation (Care Act 2014)
- Experience in working collaboratively with other professionals and agencies with complex issues and in complex situations
- Proven verbal and written communication skills
Desirable
- Experience of working in an acute hospital setting
- Knowledge of the wider health and social care community
- Knowledge of Domestic Abuse legislation and working with survivors of domestic abuse
- Good working knowledge that applies to all healthcare workers such as nursing, health and social care
