Job Summary:


An exciting opportunity has arisen to join CGL Spectrums Children and Young People’s team, this role includes delivering targeted interventions to young people around drug and alcohol awareness, education and prevention, with a focus on supporting young people involved in the care system. You will hold a caseload of young people and support them on a one-to-one basis through different treatment pathways. You will run and plan group work programmes, support people through alcohol, opiate, and non- opiate treatment, and interact with partner agencies to ensure young people accessing the service can improve and change their lives. Don’t worry, there is a wide array of training and development opportunities to help support you.


To engage children, young people (CYP) and families in a range of targeted support interventions, with the aim of safeguarding CYP and vulnerable adults, increasing family resilience, and preventing intergenerational childhood trauma associated with substance misuse.

  • Manage a dual caseload of:
  • Young people affected by parental substance misuse
  • Young people who are using drugs and/or alcohol
  • Provide holistic, child‑centred support to CYP affected by parental substance misuse using a range of evidence‑based interventions, including:
  • One‑to‑one work
  • Group work
  • Whole‑family interventions
  • Safety planning
  • Safeguarding and risk management
  • Work proactively to identify, assess and reduce risk, ensuring safeguarding concerns are responded to appropriately and in line with local safeguarding procedures

Skills/Experience Required:


  • Experience of working with young people and knowledge of the issues they face
  • Knowledge of safeguarding concerns in relation to children and young people and the Fraser Competence framework
  • Have an excellent understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working
  • within a related field
  • Knowledge of working with evidence-based practice around young people’s substance misuse treatment services and methods, including relevant best practice guidance
  • An accomplished communicator, both verbal and written with a high degree of personal IT competency
  • Be able to accurately update and maintain records and to work to deadlines for the submission of information, e.g., reports
  • Have excellent team working and interpersonal skills, maintaining a highly cooperative
  • approach to supporting colleagues in delivering service objectives
