Job Summary:


The successful post holder will participate fully in the Tier 1 (SHO) rota which is compliant with current junior doctor contract stipulations. Possible upgrade to Tier 2 rota and this will include pro rota cover of the neonatal transfer service. Cover for transport service will depend on the competency of the post holder. Flexible working is feasible.


Any changes will be by negotiation and will be reflected in the job plans of the team.


Engage with medical, nursing, management and all relevant co-workers in the delivery of department objectives: to provide clinical leadership, improve the patient experience; ensure the highest quality clinical care.


Actively participate in and support other staff with education, lung ultrasound logbook, research, quality improvement, audit and clinical governance activities involving a multi-disciplinary workforce across the department


Participate in the professional training of the staff in the department, both medical and non-medical, and contribute as required to teaching sessions for other hospital staff as well as undergraduate and postgraduate staff, including supervision of FY doctors and medical students.

Skills/Experience Required:


Essential

  • Evidence of clinical experience in secondary or tertiary neonatal care at SHO level or above

Desirable

  • MRCPCH or equivalent
  • Level 3 Child Safeguarding

Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of good knowledge/ training in neonatal medicine.
  • Evidence of active participation and completion of neonatal audit or quality improvement (QI) work.

Desirable

  • Evidence of leadership work in neonatal medicine
