Job summary

Title: Clinical Governance & Safeguarding Lead

Location: Homebased with regular travel across England

Hours: 37.5 per week

Salary: £70,000 per annum + £6,200 car allowance

Contract: Permanent


Anchor are looking for a Clinical Governance & Safeguarding Lead to shape and lead safeguarding and governance across our national care portfolio. This is a key role focused on delivering safe, high-quality care, supporting teams to continuously improve, and ensuring residents remain at the centre of everything.


What you'll be doing:

  • Oversee safeguarding governance and clinical processes, identifying gaps in practice, leadership, and culture to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain the internal incident register, clinical audits, safeguarding investigations, and inquest statements.
  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, including local authorities, regulatory bodies, and coroners.
  • Develop and implement clinical and safeguarding policies and governance frameworks to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Lead robust risk cause analysis, ensuring lessons learned are identified early and embedded across services.
  • Provide expert advice, coaching, and support to colleagues, including during complex cases and inquests.


About you

You will have:

  • Extensive experience in safeguarding, clinical governance, and risk management.
  • Experience working with coroners’ processes, case conferences, and multi-agency environments.
  • Strong analytical, investigation and report writing skills.
  • The ability to build effective relationships and influence at all levels.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Strong understanding of key legislation including Health & Social Care Act 2008 and the Care Act 2014
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding processes and partnership working
  • Clinical expertise in areas such as medication management and long-term condition support.
  • Understanding of DBS processes and professional standards.
  • Experience developing governance frameworks within a large or multi-site organisation.

Qualifications:

  • Active NMC Registration with senior-level experience
  • Care-related degree or equivalent professional qualification.
