About Us
Woodfield Academy is a proud member of the Bordesley MAT, joining in Easter 2022. We work closely with Trinity High School, Birchensale Middle School and Holyoaks First School within a highly localised three‑tier system dedicated to improving the educational offer for children across Redditch.
Our Academy sits at the heart of the community, boasting extensive grounds and exceptional facilities. From Year 5 onwards, pupils benefit from specialist teaching and access to two Science labs, a dedicated technology block, library, gym, main hall, two ICT suites and a full‑size astro‑turf.
Our Ofsted inspection in November 2024 highlighted many strengths, including:
- “The school has high ambitions for pupils.”
- “Pupils enjoy learning and attend school regularly. They are friendly and polite.”
- “Staff know pupils well and receive helpful strategies to meet each pupil’s needs.”
As part of our continued journey to strengthen consistency and inclusion, we are excited to offer this new Pastoral Assistant role within our thriving pastoral team.
The Role
We are seeking a committed, compassionate and highly organised Pastoral Assistant to support our behaviour and pastoral systems across the school. Working closely with the Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour, you will take a lead role in our Refocus Room and contribute to the wider pastoral provision.
You will join a strong, well‑established team consisting of four Heads of Year, four Pastoral Managers and the Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour. Your work will directly support pupils during moments of difficulty, helping them to regulate, reflect and re‑engage positively with learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the pastoral team in delivering consistent behaviour management across the school.
- Lead the daily running of the Refocus Room under supervision of the Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour.
- Work with pupils experiencing social, emotional or behavioural challenges.
- Provide an additional layer of safeguarding support to the DSL.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, families and staff.
- Assist with pastoral administration and record‑keeping.
- Promote positive behaviour, reward systems and pupil wellbeing.
- Uphold the school’s behaviour and pastoral policies to raise standards and support pupil success.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Creative, self‑motivated and highly organised.
- Calm, flexible and confident when supporting pupils and colleagues.
- Experienced in working with children or families, either in school or another setting.
- Warm, nurturing and committed to a child‑centred ethos.
- Able to work independently and as part of a busy team.
- Skilled in communication, relationship‑building and maintaining professional boundaries.
- Resilient, reflective and positive – modelling the values we expect from our pupils.
Why Join Woodfield Academy?
At Woodfield, staff wellbeing and professional growth are central to our culture. As part of #onewoodfield, you will experience:
- A free Simply Health care plan supporting your physical and mental wellbeing.
- A visible, supportive Senior Leadership Team who champion staff success.
- “Woodfield Wonders of the Week” celebrating staff achievements.
- Clear opportunities for career progression and professional development.
- A caring staff community where friendships and teamwork thrive.
