Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time (15 hours) highly motivated and experienced practitioner to join our committed Trust Safeguarding & Public Protection team to deliver, support and promote the Safeguarding agenda, Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) and Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA).


Main duties of the job

You will have responsibility to provide specialist advice and guidance to ensure standards of excellence in Safeguarding across the Trust and assist in the development and delivery of the Trusts Safeguarding & Public Protection training.


You will be responsible for promoting the wellbeing and safeguarding of all children, young people and adults by implementing the Trusts and Multi-agency Safeguarding policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.


Whilst working under the direction of the Named Nurses for Safeguarding, the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate initiative, innovation and emotional resilience given the nature of the role and must be able to work well both independently and within a team.


The post holder should hold a current professional registration within health or social care, a competency based teaching qualification or equivalent experience, advanced Safeguarding training and current experience working within safeguarding policies and procedures.


The post holder will be expected to work at all sites across the Trust but the main base is negotiable across multiple sites (Flatts Lane Centre, Lanchester Road Hospital, York).

The Trust Safeguarding & Public Protection team is dedicated in providing advice, support, guidance and supervision for safeguarding concerns involving adults and children across the Trust.


The successful candidate will be supported by the team by way of an induction that will incorporate development and training needs. There is opportunity to work closely with our multi-agency partners to support the delivery of the safeguarding agenda.

Qualifications

Essential

Current professional registration at 1st level in Health or Social Care.

Competency based teaching qualification or experience of competently developing, delivering and evaluating training packages.

Desirable

Advanced level Safeguarding training

Recordable qualification in teaching.


Experience

Essential

Knowledge and skills in the specialist safeguarding practice area through experiential learning.

Can demonstrate experience of providing guidance, advice and coaching to clinical staff.

Desirable

Experience of working with people who have mental health conditions or a learning disability.

Experience of working in a multiagency forum


Skills

Essential

Ability to organise, plan and deliver complex activities and manage own workload

Uses supervisory interventions, giving constructive feedback and support.

Confidently and competently able to communicate to a wide range of people in a number of settings.


Knowledge

Essential

Awareness of the Safeguarding Agenda.
