Job Description
What will you be doing?
- Developing relevant adult and child safeguarding policies and reviewing and updating the policies on a regular basis to make sure they remain in line with current legislation
- Developing safeguarding training and arranging delivery to relevant volunteers in the charity
- Undertaking DBS checks for relevant volunteers
- Making referrals
- Being the point of contact in the charity for volunteers to report safeguarding concerns
- Listening to staff concerns and acting on them
- Referring cases to Disclosure and Barring Service where a volunteer has been dismissed due to risk of harm, or causing harm, to an adult.
- Referring cases to police where a crime may have been committed
- Managing the SH safeguarding email account
- Managing referrals
- Monitoring the progress of any cases that have been referred to adult social care.
- Maintaining accurate, secure and detailed safeguarding records of both concerns and referrals
- Maintaining own knowledge to make sure the charity safeguarding process is in line with current legislation and requirements
- Providing reports to Trustees and Operations teams as required on safeguarding matters
Skills/Experience Required:
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive and confidential information
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail
- Great interpersonal skills and ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Good computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook, Atlantic Data DBS application)
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication and influencing skills and ability to communicate at all levels
- Appropriate adult and child safeguarding qualifications
