Job summary
The Safeguarding Team for Lancashire and South Cumbria provide safeguarding advise and consultation to the teams working within the Trust to ensure safeguarding practice are embedded and we are creating a culture of vigilance. With ever growing services and the introduction of new services, the Safeguarding team are working in providing experienced safeguarding practitioners to provide specialist advice where needed. The Safeguarding Team also work externally with partner agencies to provide assurance.
Applications are invited from experienced qualified nurses/social workers with leadership qualities and experience in safeguarding practices and legislation.
The post is to support the Safeguarding team, clinicians, and managers in developing and embedding safeguarding practices that reflect contemporary practice and complement the aspirations of national guidance and local health improvement programmes, whilst meeting the Trusts Safeguarding Governance agenda.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role are:-
o To lead and support practice development initiatives prioritised within the safeguarding plan as required to facilitate the delivery of evidence based high quality safeguarding practices.
o To develop systems of benchmarking, audit, and evaluation in order to measure and monitor standards of practice as part of the Safeguarding governance team.

Education / Qualification
Essential
- Current NMC/Social work England/HCPC Registration
- 1st Level degree or similar
- In-depth understanding of safeguarding legislation (Children Act, Care Act, Mental Capacity Act) and national guidance
- Considerable evidence of continuing professional development
Experience
Essential
- At least several years post registration experience
- Experience of project management
- Experience of undertaking audit, research and quality improvement
- An ability to teach in virtual and classroom settings
- Working knowledge and understanding of the principles and practice of safeguarding governance
- Understands national policy in relation to advancing and developing safeguarding practice
