Job Description
As a Safeguarding Specialist Nurse, you will undertake a range of operational safeguarding duties in line with the priorities of the Trust, the Sheffield Children Safeguarding Partnership (SCSP) and the Sheffield Adult Safeguarding Partnership (SASP).
You will work collaboratively with practitioners, services, and managers to strengthen safeguarding practice and ensure the safety and wellbeing of children, young people, and adults.
- The Safeguarding Specialist Nurse plays a key leadership role in supporting staff with complex safeguarding cases by providing expert advice, supervision, and training.
- They act as a critical point of professional oversight, offering direction, scrutiny, challenge, and escalation where required to ensure safe and effective practice.
- The role involves active participation in multi-agency safeguarding processes, including the Sheffield Integrated Front Door (Safeguarding Hub) and MARAC, where the nurse contributes to information sharing, risk assessment, and joint decision-making. They are a key health representative and decision-maker in multidisciplinary work.
- Additional responsibilities include supporting community staff with legal statements for care proceedings, contributing to safeguarding audits and reviews, and attending relevant internal and external meetings. Overall, the postholder ensures high-quality safeguarding practice through collaboration, expert guidance, and accountability.
