Job Description

We are seeking Safeguarding Trainers with expertise in the following areas:


· Harmful Sexual Behaviours

· Child Sexual Abuse

· Child Sexual Exploitation

· Child Criminal Exploitation

· Human Trafficking

· Modern Slavery

· FGM

· Forced Marriage

· So Called ‘Honour Based’ Violence

· Extreme Misogyny


This bank staff position is ideal for self-employed Safeguarding Trainers who have experience of leading safeguarding in education, social care or health care.


As a Safeguarding Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, high-quality learning for Designated Safeguarding Leads, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads and Designated Safeguarding Officers, equipping them with the knowledge and practical skills required to succeed in their role.


You will participate in course planning, working closely with IfS staff to ensure training content and delivery methods meet the needs of IfS members.


The position offers a blend of national travel for face-to-face delivery alongside home-based / remote working, providing flexibility and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

· Deliver safeguarding training in line with requirements set by IfS

· Adapt delivery methods to meet individual learner needs

· Contextualise training content to make learning relevant

· Facilitate online and in-person training sessions

· Adhere to IfS policies and procedures

· Provide learners with regular feedback


Person Specification

· Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance (essential)

· Experience in a safeguarding lead role within education, care, health or social care (essential)

· Proven experience of effective safeguarding practice, managing safeguarding cases, referrals, and working with multi-agency teams (essential)

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to simplify complex information (essential)

· Confident using virtual delivery platforms and Microsoft Office (essential)

· Willing and able to travel across the UK as required (essential)

· Specialist knowledge & expertise in at least one of the following areas:

o Harmful Sexual Behaviours

o Child Sexual Abuse

o Child Sexual Exploitation

o Child Criminal Exploitation

o Human Trafficking

o Modern Slavery

o FGM

o Forced Marriage

o So Called ‘Honour Based’ Violence

o Extreme Misogyny

· Previous experience delivering training, apprenticeships, or professional development programmes (desirable)

Qualifications Required

· Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Lead qualification (or equivalent) (minimum) (essential)

· A recognised teaching or training qualification (desirable)


Personal Attributes

· Dedicated to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults

· Exceptional verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage learners

· Empathetic and approachable, with a learner-focused approach

· Committed to personal and professional development

· Self-motivated and able to work independently


Technical Proficiency

· Comfortable working with remote collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Workspace, Microsoft Teams)

· Familiarity with online learning tools is an asset but not mandatory.
