Job Description
Parkwood E-ACT Academy is seeking a committed and compassionate Safeguarding Officer and Deputy DSL to play a vital role in protecting and promoting the welfare of our children. You will work closely with staff, families, and external agencies to ensure robust safeguarding practices, provide expert advice, and help create a safe, nurturing environment where every pupil can thrive. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference within a supportive, values‑led academy and the wider E-ACT community.
Key responsibilities:
• Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, supporting the DSL in all safeguarding matters
• Identify, record, and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with statutory guidance
• Maintain accurate, confidential safeguarding records and chronologies
• Liaise with children, families, staff, and external agencies (e.g. social care, LADO)
• Lead on early help and contribute to multi‑agency meetings and referrals
Qualifications and Skills:
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
• Relevant safeguarding, child protection, or social care qualification or training (or willingness to undertake)
• Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an education or safeguarding setting
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work with families and external agencies
• A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach when dealing with sensitive situations
